Hawzah News Agency- Senior Shia scholar Grand Ayatollah Hussein Mazaheri expressed his condolences over the sad incident of Tabas mine explosion in a message.

The text of the message is as follows:

In the name of Allah, the Merciful

"To God we belong and to Him we return"

The tragic incident of the coal mine explosion in Tabas, which resulted in the death and injury of a group of hardworking miners and our dear compatriots, has caused a lot of sorrow.

While offering condolences to the bereaved families, we ask the Almighty God for eternal mercy and forgiveness for the deceased, salvation for the missing, healing for the injured, and patience and reward for the grieving survivors, and it is seriously expected from the relevant officials to prevent such bitter incidents from happening with the necessary measures.

Dozens have tragically lost their lives following a catastrophic coal mine explosion in Tabas, located in Iran's South Khorasan province. According to various reports, the devastating blast occurred around 9 PM local time on Saturday night, with state media first reporting 35 fatalities before raising the toll to 51 victims by the next day, underscoring the gravity of the incident.

The explosion is believed to have been triggered by methane gas accumulation within the mine operated by the Madanjoo company. Governor Javad Ghenaat relayed the details of the disaster, stating, “69 workers were at work during the explosion, with 47 stationed in Block B and 22 in Block C.” Unfortunately, 30 individuals from Block B are confirmed dead, alongside fatalities from Block C.
